When dots or patterns of color are placed around a subject in a painting, the subject stands out - - like the Whitetail Doe in the picture above. However, when dots or patterns of color are placed on a subject, the subject blends into the background - - a natural camouflage. Notice how the Whitetail Buck (above right) blended into the background.
